In the first person, the narrator tells how it was her childhood and teenage years coexisting with the Japanese Toyoko, 50 year old woman who moves to the house of that Brazilian family, living with them until her death. The stories are based on the author's childhood memories. Beloved by the new family, Toyoko changes her name to Maria-San and integrates herself into Brazilian habits, while transforming family relationships with their food, oriental customs and subtleties in the way of solving conflicts. Throughout her life with Maria-San, the narrator discovers exciting stories of Ancient Japan, such as the legend of ninjas, martial fighting techniques and beautiful love stories.
